Local companies participate in the annual Emiratisation Forum

Representatives from the local power and utilities construction, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical sectors will debate how to increase and retain Emiratis in their workforce at the Emiratisation Forum, (Fairmont Bab Al Bahar Hotel, Abu Dhabi, 30th, 31st May, 2010).

The forum, organised by Abu Dhabi University (ADU), is designed to give further impetus to country's mission to increase the number of UAE nationals within these key sectors of the economy. Senior representatives from other important industries including banking & finance, oil & gas, hospitality, property & real estate, along with government agencies will also participate, in order to garner a better understanding on the subject of employee motivation and securing better retention rates of Emiratis.

"With the UAE economy diversifying quickly, companies from various industries particularly in the sector of construction, real estate and manufacturing are exploring ways to increase the percentage of Emiratis working for them. This forum aims not only to encourage the private sector to hire nationals but also guides them in creating strategic plans of retention and motivation so as to avoid high turnover rates," said HE Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of ADU.

Master motivator and best selling author Bob Nelson will give the keynote speech and the forum will then showcase a Corporate Emiratisation Framework - the 'Motivation 3-step' - that focuses on improving retention by harnessing motivation within employees particularly UAE nationals. This framework assesses the employees to understand their strengths as well as offers career guidance and counselling.

Other speakers include Faisal Al Kamali, Aldar Properties' Head of Infrastructure and leading motivator; H. Amin Carter, Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations's (ADCO) Senior Retention Advisor; Fahad Al Hassawi, du's Chief Human Resources & Corporate Service Officer.

Each will share strategies and advice, designed to help delegates develop practical solutions which can be implemented in their respective organisations and improve their Emiratisation programmes. It will also include practical workshops on how to conduct assessment and coaching as well as mentoring strategies.

The forum will feature successful case studies of Emiratisation programmes among a variety of local organisations such as the Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA), ADCO, Aldar Properties, du, and Etihad Airways.

The Emiratisation Forum is part of the Aim Emiratisation Series, designed to further develop the overall framework for the integration of Emiratis into the UAE private sector. Aim Events and Conferences, is the conferences and events organisation arm of ADU, which tackles critical issues concerning Emiratisation.Originally published by AME Info.
